Tesco: Employee Engagement

We were asked to project manage an employee engagement initiative for Tesco under the guise of health & wellbeing in the workplace. Tesco threw down the gauntlet of working in the store that had the highest rate of sickness absence in the UK. The gauntlet was duly picked up and accepted.

We designed, created & implemented a widely-scoped human performance programme dealing with team development, personnel support services, intrinsic motivation & targeted extrinsic reward.

The results were better than we could have hoped for. By the end of the 9 month project we had delivered a 36% reduction in absenteeism, which translated into a projected national annual cost saving of £19 million.
